About The Lazarus Project
Understanding our ministry of healing, hope, and resurrection
Why "Lazarus"?
In the Gospel of John, we read about Jesus calling Lazarus from the tomb: "Lazarus, come out!" (John 11:43-44). When Lazarus emerged, still wrapped in burial cloths, Jesus told the people: "Untie him and let him go."
This moment captures the heart of our ministry. Many people today feel trapped in their own kind of tomb—struggling with addiction, supporting loved ones through difficult journeys, or simply carrying heavy burdens that seem impossible to release. Like Lazarus, they need someone to call them out of darkness and help untie the bindings that hold them back.
Our name reminds us that healing is possible, that new life can emerge from difficult places, and that we are called to be present with one another in the journey from darkness to light.
Our Mission
To provide a welcoming, non-judgmental space where individuals and families affected by addiction can find support, resources, and spiritual accompaniment rooted in Catholic tradition and mercy.
Our Approach
Rooted in Faith
We draw strength from Catholic teaching about human dignity, the power of community, and God's infinite mercy. This isn't about judgment—it's about accompaniment and hope.
Community Support
Healing happens in relationship. We create spaces where people can share their stories, support one another, and build connections that sustain long-term recovery.
Practical Resources
We connect people with professional resources, support groups, counseling services, and community programs that can provide specialized help when needed.
Our Founder
Kyle Wilke
Recovering Alcoholic • Parishioner • Servant
Kyle's journey through addiction and recovery has shaped his understanding of what it means to need help, to find hope, and to walk with others through difficult times. As a recovering alcoholic and active member of St. Patrick Parish, he brings both personal experience and deep faith to this ministry.
Rather than focusing on his own story, Kyle emphasizes the importance of humility, mercy, and creating safe spaces where others can find their own path to healing. His approach is simple: be present, listen without judgment, and trust in God's grace working through community.
"This isn't about fixing people," Kyle often says. "It's about walking with them, just like Jesus walked with those who were struggling. Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply be there."
